Domesticity in Prehistoric Skara Brae, Scotland

A grassy area with some grass and rocks

When a harsh storm in 1850 cleared, the outlines of this village were found by the locals in Orkney, Scotland. It dated back to 3180 BCE. The evidence of domesticity in dwellings is ancient. Like many other archaeological sites “Scottish Pompeii” was abandoned sometime around 2500 BCE and we don’t know why.
